What Data Veast Collects

Veast collects the following categories of consumer health data when you use the app. This list reflects all data types that may apply to your account depending on the features you use.

Health data shared with AI — writing samples submitted to Veast's AI analysis features are processed by Anthropic (Claude API, US-based) and immediately discarded after the response. No raw text is retained by Anthropic or stored in Veast's database beyond your account's own records.

Your Rights Under WA My Health My Data Act

Washington's My Health My Data Act (effective March 31, 2024) grants Washington residents the following enforceable rights over consumer health data. These rights apply to you if you are a Washington State resident, regardless of where Veast is incorporated.

  1. Right 01
    Right to Access
You may request a full copy of all consumer health data Veast holds about you. Your request will be confirmed within 10 business days and fulfilled within 30 calendar days. We will provide the data in a clear, readable format covering all categories listed above.
  2. Right 02
    Right to Correction
If you believe Veast holds inaccurate consumer health data about you, you may request a correction. Provide a description of the inaccuracy and, where possible, the correct information. Veast will investigate and correct verified inaccuracies within 30 calendar days of your request.
  3. Right 03
    Right to Deletion
You may request permanent deletion of your consumer health data at any time. Veast will process the deletion within 30 calendar days of your verified request. Hard copies and off-site backups will be purged within 90 calendar days. Note that we may retain data where required by law or to resolve active disputes, and will inform you of any such exception.
  4. Right 04
    Right to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw your consumer health data consent at any time via Settings → Privacy inside the Veast app. Withdrawal stops future collection and processing for that data category. Withdrawal does not retroactively undo lawful processing already completed before your request — your historical data prior to withdrawal was collected under your active consent.
  5. Right 05
    Right to Data Portability
You may receive a machine-readable copy (JSON or CSV format) of your consumer health data within 30 calendar days of your request. The export will include all data categories listed above that apply to your account. You may request portability via the app (Settings → Privacy → Export My Data) or by emailing [email protected].
  6. Right 06
    Right to Lodge a Complaint
If you believe Veast has violated your rights under WA MHMD, you may file a complaint directly with the Washington State Attorney General's Office. The AG enforces MHMD and can take action on your behalf.

How to Exercise Your Rights

You can initiate most rights directly within the Veast app. For requests that require identity verification or fall outside in-app options, email us directly.

  1. In-app self-service — Open the Veast app and go to Settings → Privacy. From there, tap Export My Data for a portable copy of your health data, or tap Delete Account to initiate permanent deletion of your account and all associated consumer health data.
  2. Email request for specific MHMD rights — For access, correction, consent withdrawal, or portability requests outside the app, email [email protected] with the subject line: WA MHMD Request — [Right Name] (e.g., "WA MHMD Request — Correction"). Include your registered email address and a description of your request. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing.
  3. Response timeline — Veast will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and fulfill it within 30 calendar days. If we need additional time (in rare cases up to 60 days for complex requests), we will notify you in writing with the reason for the extension.
We will never charge you a fee to exercise any WA MHMD right. We will never deny you service or discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Cross-Border Data Transfer Notice

Veast operates on Supabase infrastructure with database servers located in the United States. Your consumer health data is stored and processed on US-based servers. When you use Veast AI features — including the Veast Agent, food photo analysis, and workout evaluation — your submitted content is processed by Anthropic (Claude API), a US-based AI provider, under a data processing agreement. Anthropic does not retain your data after processing.

By creating a Veast account and using the app, you acknowledge that your consumer health data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection standards than those in your jurisdiction. You may withdraw this consent at any time via Settings → Privacy, which will prevent further collection but will not reverse transfers already completed under your prior consent.

Third-party processors — Veast uses Supabase (database and edge functions, US) and Anthropic (AI inference, US). These processors operate under contractual data handling obligations. No consumer health data is sold to third parties or used for advertising.

Contact & Complaints

For all privacy and health data requests, contact Veast directly first. If your concern is not resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to escalate to the Washington State Attorney General.
